The Downtown Police Unit is a coorperative venture between the Downtown St. Louis Partnership and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department made up of both bicycle and beat officers. The Downtown Partnership provides training, uniforms and other equipment. The Partnership also provides a grant to the Police Department for supplemental patrol for special events and crime deterrence.
The Downtown Bike & Beat Officers provide supplementary police protection and enhance the visibility of law enforcement in the downtown. This popular and high profile security function occupies space provided by the Downtown Partnership at 217 N. 9th Street, in the Frisco Building.
